The Prompt: Mirror

The Prompt 126: Mirror

Is the reflection an impression,
or perhaps an imitation,
of the person that resides
behind the face that I
remember?

Is the reflection a distortion
or perhaps exaggeration,
of the person that remains
behind the mask that hides
my truth?

Is the reflection a delusion,
or perhaps a misconception,
of the person that endures
behind the stories that I
tell?

  1. Oh wow such powerful words. I can totally relate to this feeling, I kind of touched upon it in my piece for this prompt too although not quite as eloquently as you have

  2. I really like the uncertainties and the shadows conveyed by your poem Sara. It is very thought provoking; I keep re-reading

Ah, thank you! The Quote challenge sounds fun, and might get me posting regularly again… I will get round to it, promise!

  3. I love the idea of the person that endures behind the stories that you tell. I often wonder if there is such a person (in all of us), or if we’re made of story.

  4. Intriguing and thought provoking. I particularly liked the last verse, so much of us – is what we ‘choose’ to present or give of ourselves to others. Beautifully written. #whatimwriting
