I had a wonderful calendar last year. It was the M.I.L.K* Family Organiser (the only way to keep track of a family of five!) and for each month there was a beautiful photo and a quote about families.
I loved the quotes. They made me think about my own family and what that months ‘thought’ meant for us – what we could take from it, whether it was simply a reminder to us or whether it was something we could learn from.
The first quote was:
A family is a blessing that grows with love.

Before I met my husband having a family was not remotely on my radar, then suddenly, becoming a family seemed like the most obvious thing in the world. We had wonderfully happy times as a family of two before we were blessed with the arrival of our oldest son. Three years later our younger son was born and then last year we welcomed our daughter.
A family truly is a blessing – I could not have predicted how amazing, inspiring and downright fabulous having a family would be. And the love that was born out of the arrival of our children wasn’t limited to our little family unit – it expanded to embrace grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins…
A family grows with love, and because of love.
And how incredibly lucky we are.

Inspired by the 1950s landmark photographic exhibition “The Family of Man”, M.I.L.K. began as a worldwide search to develop a collection of extraordinary and geographically diverse images portraying humanity’s “Moments of Intimacy, Laughter and Kinship” (M.I.L.K.). This search took the form of a global photographic competition in 1999.
