Today was beautiful. A clear blue sky, cold and crisp, see your breath kind of a day.
We’ve spent quite a bit of it outside!
This morning we went for a walk through town, heading back over to see the friends we spent Thanksgiving with.
We had borrowed their wagon to get the boys home after dinner, and we wanted to return it. The boys had loved their ride home in it and were keen to have another trip! So, rather than put it in the car and drive over we popped them it, snuggled the wee girl up in the buggy, and walked.
After a visit with our friends (and a run around their garden) we went to have lunch with other friends! (We’ve had a wonderfully busy day!)
Lunch was followed by another lovely stroll around the Tufts University Campus, which has panoramic views over Boston along with some interesting sculptural features. Apparently, the students are allowed to vandalise the cannon, but nothing else. It is regularly still wet in the morning!
The day ended with a trip to the park. The fact that darkness was descending meant nothing to the kids, who were wrapped up and cosy and running around happily!
We certainly made the most of the day!
We arrived home with three tired, but happy, kids who, despite the cold, had spent half the day outside :)
These are the best kind of days.
As always I am linking up with the wonderful Coombe Mill’s Country Kids. Click on the badge to see what everyone else has been up to and be inspired to get outside!

Sounds like a good long walk. Fascinated by the canon. Is it old or a replica? Quite enlightened to give somewhere for the students to express their artistic selves. When I was at Uni, there was an outside Henry Moore statue, which someone decided to repaint. It caused quite a commotion! #CountryKids
Repainting a Henry Moore?! I can imagine! I googled it, and it’s apparently a replica, and the tradition is to paint it – it seems to get repainted most nights :) A bit of a rite of passage!
Love that you still got out about in the cold! And how cool are they in their little wagon!! Wish we could get a bit of your cold weather at the moment. Looks like it was a beautiful family day out
The wagon was great, I think we might have to get one! I love these cold, crisp sunny days :)
Absolutely the best kind of days. That one looks brilliant, and lovely to see the sun shining through. That wagon looks loads of fun – I want to get one now!
I know, I think we might have to get a wagon!
That cannon looks like the sort of feature my kids would always want to rush over and see too. Just the best sort of winter’s day, outdoors and busy all wrapped up. I bet they were all fast asleep in no time after their exciting day. That ride on does look like a fun way to travel! Lovely to see around where you live, thank you for sharing on Country Kids.
Oh yes, we all slept well :) Thanks for hosting x
Oh this looks fun (especially the wagon ride)… and cold! #CountryKids.
It was certainly cold :) But definitely fun!
I so love days like these .. just perfect x
Thank you Jaime x
That wagon looks lots of fun! Seems a perfect day x
The wagon is great, think we might have to get one :)
you do live i a lovely part of America – not that i have ever been but the history of the buildings in Boston are great arent they? And that wagon on the die walks is so typically american too – and what fun, my two boys would have loved that journey. looks like you made the most of the late autumn sunshine x x
sorry for the typos – it should read ‘side’ walks not die!!! x
I did wonder :)
Boston is lovely, and the city is steeped in history, it’s fascinating – and beautiful. The wagon was great, might have to invest on one :)
I so much agree – something special about a day out seeing friends and outdoor time with the kids on top.

It was lovely, we all had such a fun day xx
I’m intrigued by the elephant in the pictures! Does it have a story?
I believe the elephant is the Uni mascot, and this sculpture is a replacement for the original Jumbo that met its end in a fire…
What a lovely day and looks like so much fun xx
Thank you, it was!
Beautiful sunny day, lovely pictures. Its so good to fill so many fun things into a day and looks like you did here :)
It was certainly a busy day, but lots of fun :)
I can almost smell the freshness of that crisp Boston air looking at these photos. Sounds like you got every second’s worth of enjoyment out of the day. Bravo!
Thanks – it really was one of those fantastically fresh, crisp days! Just beautiful.
Look at the gorgeous light… and then the fall of dark. I like the way you followed the whole day. This was a very evocative series of pictures.
Thank you – I hadn’t expected the day to last quite as it did, it was lovely x
Looks like a fantastic outdoors day! Love the views of Boston.
Thank you :)
Wow, you’re not wrong about the sun! Great photo’s and I love where you live!
Oh, thank you xx
oh what a fabulous kind of day! love those little wagons!
Thanks, it was lovely! Think we might have to get a wagon :)
Lovely day out. I always imagine wagons as an american thing I think from films…like all young kids need to have a wagon :) A different way to get about definitely.
I have to say that I’m tempted to get a wagon now :)
