The first day of our holiday dawned a bit grey and dull, so we headed straight for the pool. The boys (and the wee girl for that matter) would stay in the water all day if they could, but as the skies brightened we dragged them away and headed into North Conway.
After grabbing a bite to eat we set off for the Pirates Cove Mini Golf. We had passed this on our way to the apartment yesterday and it looked pretty impressive for crazy golf!
The multi-level course with (awfully blue…) waterfalls running through it was great fun. With facts about Blackbeard at each hole, gravestones, skulls and cannons dotted around – along with lots of bright flowers – it was a very enjoyable way to spend an hour. Even if the heavens did open at one point!
The 7yo quickly got the hang of it, but the 4yo found some inventive ways to get the ball to the hole…
There were several holes that involved water, and on more than one occasion daddy had to go fishing!
The 4yo’s excitement and enthusiasm were as infectious as ever :)
This (assisted!) hole in one was a cause for great celebration!
We made it round the course with only one ‘club to the head’ incident, which was quite impressive considering the enthusiastic swinging that was going on.
The boys had a great time (all three of them!)…
…while the wee girl slept through most of it, waking in time to watch the last few holes!
It was a lot of fun, and even I managed to make it round fairly well (in fact, I got two holes in one!). Although hubby did try to keep score, and the 7yo was his usual competitive self, I have absolutely no idea how many shots we each took – other than ‘lots’ for the 4yo and ‘few’ for hubby :)
And, I was only a little bit tempted to leave them all in the stocks at the end!
While I’m not an expert on Crazy Golf, I haven’t seen any courses quite like this one in UK. Another wonderfully American experience for us all :)

Oh what a fantastic golf course – I love all the pirate detail and the water is stunning.
It was such a lovely setting, and the boys thought it was hysterical when the balls ended up in the water :) All the little details around the course were great!
Looks like great fun. About 100 times more exciting than the one we do in Padstow every year! Love the scoring system and the 4yo’s creative ways of getting the ball into the hole!
The 4yo is very creative :) But, he loves it! The 7yo is starting to get a bit competitive now though…!

We’re clocking up crazy golf courses this year (not sure why), but I’ve not come across one as well set as this one. It looks fun. You seem to use the same scoring system as us.
Yeah, I think that’s the only way to score when you have little kids there!
We love crazy golf…but my husband and I get terribly competitive!! Lovely post and yes it does look as though all 3 of your boys had a super time xx
Thankfully, with the kids there it’s tough to get too competitive… I was pleased with my holes in one though ;)

The 7yo is getting quite good now, the 4yo’s technique is novel – but he has such a good time, it doesn’t matter at all :) You should definitely go!
