Sunday Showcase 1

Sunday Showcase - Featured Image

Towards the end of last year several bloggers shared their Top Ten blogs of 2015. I got as far as writing my list. And the list kept growing.

In fact, I simply couldn’t narrow it down to ten, every time I tried, I ended up adding another blog. So, an idea began to form.

Instead of sharing a single list I want to share my ever changing and evolving list. And alongside a featured blog each week, I will be sharing my favourite posts and some of my favourite moments.

I’ve never managed to sustain a weekly feature, but we’ll see how it goes!

A blog I love…

As Louise inspired this idea by including me in her Top Ten list, it seemed fitting that she be my first featured blog.

Louise blogs over at Little Hearts, Big Love. She writes of her husband and their children, Jessica and Sophie, and of their journey as a family of a child with a heart condition.

Jessica is a beautiful four year old, who Louise describes as her little heart warrior. Her story is one of courage, from both her and her parents. Louise uses her blog to raise awareness of congenital heart defects while also writing wonderfully about days out, activities family time and motherhood.

She is also very generous in her promotion of other blogs, running a regular feature Friday Fabulous Five, highlighting five of her favourite blog posts from the previous week. She also runs a great linky From the Mouths of Babes encouraging us to write down all those wonderful things our toddlers say, which we promptly forget. I really must join in more often!

So, if you don’t already know Louise’s blog, do head over for a read, and this post that she shared with The Prompt a couple of weeks ago is a great place to start :)

A post I loved…

Having taken a bit of a break from the blog during February I haven’t been reading as much as I normally would, but I have been catching up this week and these posts really stood out.

Taking one of my all time favourite songs and reinventing it, Tim from Slouching Towards Thatcham made me chuckle (and think) with his version of Pretty in Pink. A must read and listen!

As today is Mother’s Day in the UK, I wanted to share this wonderful post from Suzanne at 3 Children and It, 5 things my mum taught me about motherhood. A beautiful, and very wise, tribute to her mother.

And lastly, again in honor of Mother’s Day, a moving post from Leigh over at Headspace Perspective talking about being an empty armed mother on Mother’s Day. Mother’s Day can be hard for many people and we should be mindful of that as we celebrate.

A moment I loved…

As we sat in the car waiting to collect the boys from school one afternoon this week the wee girl climbed into the passenger seat and took control of the stereo. Her current favourite song is Hey Brother by Avicii. She knows all the words, I kid you not. And, we play it, repeatedly. I can sing all the words too.

We listened to it. Then we listened to it again.

Then, she reached over and turned the volume right up. People walking past jumped and she looked so pleased with herself :) She never fails to entertain!

Turning the volume up

So, there we have it. Week 1 of Sunday Showcase… I promise to be back next Sunday, sharing more great blogs with you!

  1. What a great idea for a regular feature Sara and I am honoured that my little blog is the first to be featured – thank you so much! I love your moment with the wee girl singing along to the car stereo, repeating her favourite song again and again and turning the volume up. I haven’t read the three blog posts that you featured this week – will have to pop over and check them out! :-)

Gas!! My almost two year old LOVES that song too. He does be rocking out in his carseat when it pops on the radio haha

  3. This is such a fabulous idea for a regular post. And it is so nice to recognise and show love to fellow bloggers, I adore all the bloggers that you have included here. I like you have an ever growing and changing list of favourite bloggers. Perhaps I need to start doing a similar feature on my blog. But I also am hopeless at keeping up a regular feature on my blog. Hugs Lucy xxxx

  4. Such a lovely idea – I think I’d like to do the same on my blog to spread the love around a little!

  5. A great idea, Sara (and not just because you featured my post). Always great to share the love and I’m always looking out for new posts/blogs to read that I may have missed.
