Me and: 50 Books 2013

50 Books 2013

Julie over at Mama OWL has encouraged us to get involved in her 50 books 2013 challenge.

I love reading. If anyone asks me that dreaded ‘what are your hobbies…’ question, my answer is always reading. I love authors in the way some people love pop stars or movie stars. I can lose myself in a book so completely that I forget to eat or speak.

I read just about anything as long as it’s fiction (can’t quite escape in the same way into non-fiction!). I particularly love fantasy and I’m quite partial to chick lit (although I have a fairly broad view of what makes up that genre) and crime novels.

But having kids has made my reading habits a little erratic. I used to read two or three books a week (commuting is great!). Now… Well, I’m half way through a book that I started about 6 months ago… To be fair I have read a few other things along the way, but I must finish Game of Thrones before I read anything else! So, it will be the first book on my list for this challenge. Hope it’s not cheating that I started it last year :)

This challenge is just what I need. I’ve already started downloading things to read next (kindle daily deals are handy!).

BUT, my next book will be A Memory of Light. Yes, I am one of those people who have been counting down to its release for the last year or so. I actually met the author, Brandon Sanderson (who was asked to finish the Wheel of Time after Robert Jordan sadly died) at a book signing quite recently. See, authors are like pop stars to me! I literally cannot wait for it to be released next week *does happy dance*

I suspect that Game of Thrones will actually be going back on the shelf again!

    1. Do you have a goodreads account? Or will you post reviews on each of your books for 2013? I love to see what people are reading and what they thought of the books for my own reading challenge…

      1. Completely agree re Game of Thrones, I should have read it in one go, I keep having to go back and remind myself who people are, so many characters! I will post reviews on my blog so that the other bloggers doing the challenge can see them, if they want to! I do have a Goodreads account, but admit I haven’t actually used it in anger yet – maybe now is the time to! Thanks for reading and commenting :)
