The weather last week wasn’t great, cold and wet for most of the week, but we had one day that gave us a hint of spring.
So much so that as soon as we got home from school the boys ran inside, put their sandals on (I did question the wisdom of this, it wasn’t that warm!) and ran outside into the garden with their scooters.
Then it was snack time. This is the first time this year it’s been warm enough to sit outside.
I love watching the boys play together, especially when they don’t know I’m watching. They play so nicely (most of the time!), with the 6yo devising all sorts of stories and games.
There is a little bit of snow left in the garden, so most of the afternoon’s games revolved around digging, throwing and chasing with snow.
And to quote a famous saying (or at least a Christopher Brookmyre book title!), it’s all fun and games until someone loses an eye – or in this case, gets a snow ball to the head! 6yo scored a direct hit, 3yo not impressed. But they had had a lovely afternoon running around in the garden, and hopefully this really is the start of spring…!
I’m linking up with Coombe Mill’s Country Kids again this week. Click on the badge to see what everyone else has been up to.

I love the running out in sandals when there is snow on the ground! That is so typical of children, I love their optimism and enthusiasm for life. As you say watching them when they are unaware is always a joy. Glad you found an outdoor slot in a miserable week.
Thanks! Me too – it’s snowing again now, another 8 inches or so…! Yay, not :)
