Thankfully we have had no sickness this week! Back to normal schedule of activities and play dates :)
Monday
We went back to swimming today, first time we’d been in a month what with holidays and sick kids. I was a bit worried that the wee girl might not enjoy it, and she also didn’t nap beforehand, but she loved it as usual, lots of excited splashing! She fell asleep as soon as we left and slept for two hours, missing lunch completely – resorted to a picnic in the buggy on the way to pick the boys up from school! The 3yo went back to school, thankfully, finally recovered! It was a day of getting back into routine.
Tuesday
A fairly quiet day today. No activities planned, so just took it easy at home with the wee girl. 6yo had a play date after school, so he was dropped back at home just in time for tea.
Wednesday
We had music in the morning, which we were late for… As the wee girl had not napped before swimming on Monday, I tried very hard to get her to take a nap before music – I wanted to avoid the picnic lunch on the school run again! It was not very successful… After 90 minutes of attempting various tactics (milk, walk, rocking…) I was ready to give up when she looked up at me, smiled and fell asleep! 30 mins before music started! Typical. She’s not quite ready to go to one nap, but it’s becoming a struggle to get her to take a nap early enough in the morning to be able to then do a class before lunch (and fit a second nap in before dinner…). I’ll have to review class times I think and move her to earlier ones. Dreading the single nap to be honest as picking the boys up from school will always disturb it. Poor girl, always having to fit in around her brothers!
Thursday
Again, a quiet day catching up at home. The 6yo had a play date after school and was again dropped home just in time for tea :) The wee girl refused to eat any lunch that involved a spoon that she wasn’t holding, so I admitted defeat and gave her the bowl of yogurt – all very well when I can just put her straight in the bath, but I still had to pick the 3yo up from school, so I was trying to avoid the need for one!
Friday
I could no longer avoid the fact that we have painters starting on Monday and spent the morning tidying and boxing things up to get them out of the way while the house is being painted. A friend and her two children came round for a play date which was lovely.
Saturday
The wee girl and I had a music class again this morning to make up for one we had missed. She and I then went to Starbucks to wait for the boys to finish their swimming lessons – she napped while I had tea and read my book. Lovely :) We then decided to try a restaurant that’s been recommended to us by a few people – Border Cafe. It was great! We love Mexican food, one of my favourite things about living in the States is being able to get really good Mexican food so easily! We had a lovely lunch, the kids were great and really enjoyed it. In the evening my husband and I actually went to a grown up party, with grown ups and grown up conversation! It was good fun and lovely to spend an evening out :)
Sunday
I did my usual food shop followed by tea with my book! The rest of the day was mainly spent getting ready for the painters starting on Monday. The house now looks really empty – as if we’ve just moved in again. Can’t wait for it to be all painted and fresh though :)
