Snow day and baking

Snow Day and Baking

Our little taste of spring was just that, a taste. The snow returned with a vengeance on Monday night and we woke up to a good 6-8 inches again. Needless to say the schools were closed on Tuesday and by 8.30am I had two bored boys!

After resorting to TV to keep them quiet while their sister had her morning nap the 3yo requested ‘baking’…

Now, I am not the worlds best baker by any stretch of the imagination! I do however make a mean packet cake mix :) Aided by my enthusiastic 3yo, we mixed and spooned and popped chocolate cupcakes in the oven.

Then came decorating, which is the bit the 6yo enjoys. Scooshy icing and sprinkles, fantastic! Not too much mess…

And then of course the best bit – tasting :) Such was their enthusiasm for the tasting bit, only half of the cakes ended up with sprinkles!

And, I have to say, they were very tasty! Of course, the wee girl made a grab for them, thankfully caught by mummy (although not before taking a photo!).

She managed to get a good finger full of icing, before one of her brothers gave her a whole cupcake when I wasn’t looking :)
