Our garden is covered in acorns.
It took me a while to work out what the gun shot sounds were! Acorns hitting our back steps and the car make a lot of noise :)
[The squirrels also take particular pleasure in shaking them out of the trees when we are in the garden… They are surprisingly accurate in their aim for our heads!]
It is a sign that autumn is coming.
Our garden is still green, but the walk to school is becoming more colourful.
It speaks of crisp days; reds and golds; swishing through leaves; hats and scarves; brisk walks; seeing your breath; welly boots and puddles; sweeping up leaves, every day; retreating indoors for hot chocolate and cosy cuddles.
Fall in New England, rich and colourful, beautiful and bold.
I can’t wait!

That is a lot of acorns! My daughter loves finding them and picking them up now, so she’d have a ball in your garden! Your description of autumn sounds so lovely and cuddly, and I’m really looking forward to seeing your New England fall photos x
I’ve had to ban them from the house, it was getting ridiculous :) There will be lots of leaves!
Ahhhleaves turning colour – this is the last thing on my Autumn checklist that I wanted to see – I’ve ticked acorns and conkers off and now I can tick of leaves! My initial reaction was that I’d love acorns landing in my garden but I suspect that it can get a bit annoying after a while.Now I have a mental image of you in your garden wearing a crash helmet to hang out the washing!

We were out in the garden this evening and it was raining acorns! It’s lovely to see the trees starting to change colour, the never ending sweeping up is less lovely :) Thanks for hosting xx

i am laughing at the gun shot sounds because we go through the same thing here with star fruit falling on the roof of our house. enjoy your fall. it is by far one of my favorite seasons and it is one of the things i miss the most about living up north.
No matter how many times it happens, it still gives you a fright doesn’t it?! I am looking forward to fall, such a lovely time of year x
I never thought about a car on acorns and how loud it is, but you are so right – it sounds like a gunshot! And watch out if you happen to be standing by that one of those little things shoots out from under the tire and hits you! And, you’ve got the squirrels doing that too! I agree – you need a crash helmet.
Ha – it’s so loud! I stand at the kitchen window and they actually make me jump :)
oh how wonderful i am full of jealousy we live now where near any acorns even though we have searched where do you live i will pop down in the car and gather a handful for our crafting treasure box and maybe scatter some this way so they grow
Ha, wish I could :) We have two oak trees in our garden, but sadly I think it’s probably a bit far to try and blow acorns your way!
I genuinely can’t wait to see your posts in the coming weeks Sara. You have got to be in one of the most beautiful places on earth for Autumn. I know I’ve probably said it before, but it is high up on my bucket list to see New England in the Fall. That is an incredible amount of acorns, they look fabulous, but probably not that great bouncing off your head and car :)
