In last weeks collection of funees, I read a great post from Ruth over at Mixed Bag of All Sorts in which her son described being unstrapped as strapped out and it reminded me of one of my all time favourite expressions from our 7yo.
My husband loves to teach the kids tricks (and I must gather some of the better ones together in a post!).
A very early one with all of three of them has been teaching them to switch lights on and off, and to say light on and light off :)
When the 7yo was around 18 months, he loved the lights trick.
As he learned to speak, he would say light on with gusto!
However, as his speech improved, and he began to make requests, he would ask to switch the lights on and then ask to switch the dark on!
For a long time in our house, we didn’t switch lights off, we switched the dark on :)

That’s so cute. I now want to teach little Z this :). He just shouts “oh it’s gone dark”
It is probably my favourites :) We have friends who loved it so much that they actually use it themselves now!
That’s very poetic!
Thanks!
Aww that’s definitely a better phrase! :)
Isn’t it? I love it :)
Your lucky that your husband teaches them tricks like that, my other half prefers to teach mine rude jokes or other inappropriate things that they always come out with at the worst possible moments, like in the middle of class!! He thinks it funny, I do not!
Oh, some of them aren’t quite so sweet! I must write them all down :)
Well, I think that is rather sound logic. Adults do make things so complicated :-)
It is logical isn’t it?!
What a fab way of thinking about turning the light off – love it. Would love to read a post about the tricks your husband has taught your little big people #wotsofunee
I must write it – there have been some classics!
Oh that is just gorgeous!
It really is! One of my absolute favorites :)
aw that really is so cute :)
Thanks :) It’s definitely one of my favourites!
