I have been gathering together a list of Christmas crafts to do with the boys. I’ve been having fun on Pinterest and have been gaining inspiration from lots of lovely blogs.
Today has been one of those days and I was in need of something to distract the 4yo, even just for ten minutes!
So, I picked a very simple craft and set it up for him.
You will need:
Green paper/card
Glue (we used all purpose, PVA, craft glue)
Glitter glue/glitter
‘Baubles’ – stickers, pom poms, shiny stars etc.
First of all I printed out a Christmas tree for him to colour in while I cut out a couple of Christmas tree shapes in green craft paper and laid out a selection of our crafting materials. The 4yo then decorated his trees with glitter glue and various baubles.
I will admit, it being one of those mornings, that tree number one didn’t go too well. A bit of a crafting fail to be honest. The 4yo wanted to use glitter glue, he wanted to make ‘tinsel’ lines, he wouldn’t let me help, he ended up with big splodges, he cried.
Tree number two was more successful. He was more patient with the glitter glue and was happy with his lines. He then allowed me to help with placing the baubles – he picked one, showed me where he wanted it to go, I put a spot of glue down and he stuck the star/snowflake down. It was very good for his fine motor skills, he wanted to be very precise with the placing of the stars etc. He likes symmetry!
So, despite a shaky start, he was very pleased with his finished tree :)

He was pleased with number two, and it is currently the only decoration I’ve managed to out up :)
