First snow day of the year!

This is my garden this morning.

The boys should have gone back to school today, but last night we got the call (and email, Facebook update, banner on the news channel, notice on the local town channel…!) to say that all schools would be closed. So, we have a snow day. The snow is falling steadily and is predicted to reach a foot by tomorrow.

When I took these photos first thing, there were still blades of grass visible. As I write this, my foot prints have already disappeared.

It’s a bit chilly, and tomorrow we may experience a low of -4F (-20C); our first negative Fahrenheit day since we moved here!

The snow is so pretty, the ploughs haven’t been round, to throw dirty snow up on to the pavements. A pristine white expanse covers our garden; no shoveling has spoiled the blanket of snow, yet.

This is when I like the snow. Home and warm; white and clean.

I will enjoy this moment. The cursing will begin again tomorrow, if the schools are open!

I only like the snow like that, too, when you don’t have to be anywhere at all! Maybe you’ll get another snow day :)

  2. i miss snow!! and i agree, snow is best when it is white and clean and when you can go indoors to warm up. preferably by a fire.

  3. How lovely Sara to see that snow back again – I love it when you can see everything disappear so it’s completely white. It will look beautiful although it looks like it does already :)

  4. I WANT SNOW! I WANT SNOW! Although I only like the white bit, not the slushy bit that comes after ;)

Lovely photos – and I hope you are keeping warm *passes woolly socks*

Thanks for joining in again and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
