Despite the cold, despite the snow; despite the polar vortex!
Despite the cold toes, the icy fingers and the frozen noses.
Despite all of that; this winter has been full of joy.
Sledges and snowmen and igloos;
Snow painting, potions and snowballs!
Snow days!
The cries of no school, yay echoing through the house.
Snow falling, light and sparkly or thick and fast.
So pretty, so much, so deep.
Proper snow!
Watching the snow ploughs; snow flowing in front like a wave; crashing to shore at the kerb. Snow banks as tall as the 4yo!
Children helping with snow clearing; piling it higher and higher.
Neighborhood cheer, all hands on deck.
Shovels at the ready; look at us mummy, look what we’ve done.
The wee girl walking in snow for the first time; curious.
What does snow feel like, how does it taste?
Why do I have to wear gloves?
Don’t want my hat!
Mummy, hans ouch, guvs peese, wan hat!
Catching snowflakes on our tongues; making snow angels.
Running and sliding and slipping.
Watching our breath make clouds as we walk.
Building sledge runs in the garden.
Whoosh, again and again and again…
Children laughing and squealing!
A half constructed igloo, proudly standing centre stage.
Snow painting; a rainbow appearing on white snow.
So much fun. Such excitement: playing together, imaginations running wild, adventures to be had.
So much to learn. Soft, shimmery snow; no good for snowmen or snowballs, easy to shovel. Thick, sticky snow; great for snowmen and throwing, exhausting to shovel. Snow subjected to days (and days) of sub-zero temperatures; crunchy and icy and slippery! So many different types of snow, so many different games to play :)
Rosy cheeks, smiling faces, full of joy. Perfect childhood moments.

It looks fabulous! I’m sure the novelty might of worn off for me by now if I was living with it, though! I remember last year when it stayed for weeks and it just got annoying!
Oh, yeah, I’ve had enough now – would you believe it snowed again this morning?! It has been great fun for the kids though :)

lovely post, which we knew how to cope with snow a bit better over here in the UK it always feels so traumatic!
I know, I remember the bad winters a few years ago when everything ground to a halt! The infrastructure here is pretty impressive :)
