Word of the Week: Mixed

mixed

I’ve been sitting here thinking about what my word for this week should be. No single word stands out as being just right.

After a tiring week last week, I had hoped my word might be quiet or sleep or recharging

After my husband returned on Saturday afternoon, the weekend was fairly restful, as I had hoped. But, it also included an outing to a birthday party, which was fun but certainly not quiet!

Monday was the wee girls swim class; always a busy and fun, but tiring, morning. Tuesday the 5yo was unexpectedly off school, so not quite the restful day I had hoped for, frustrating for all of us! Wednesday was an early release (staff development day) so that means separate pick ups for the boys, rather than a single trip; followed by an Open House/Ice Cream Social at the 7yo’s school in the evening…

Today has been quiet, catching up on washing and housework. Tomorrow we have a coffee date with friends and then I’m *whispers* going out for the evening!

So, no one word seems to cover the mix of days. But, as I write, perhaps that’s it: mixed!

Which, I imagine is the case for most of us, most weeks. A mix of quiet and noisy; busy and relaxing; outings and time at home; good and bad. I guess the trick is making it balanced too… perhaps that should be my goal for next week, although I’m not sure how achievable that ideal really is :)

  1. Oh Sara! These sorts of weeks always leave you feeling a bit unsettled don’t they? I’m such a sucker for routine!! Have a brilliant night out though – you deserve it after such a busy week! Xxx

I fear you are right :) I’m just going to enjoy my evening out and start again tomorrow!

  2. I have definitely been feeling like things *never* calm down – its Saturday lunchtime and this is the first opportunity I’ve had all week to catch up on blog reading & commenting and I hate ‘link dumping’ and don’t want people to think that’s what I do but there just seem to have been constant demands on me and its so difficult to prioritise sometimes! #WotW
