Word of the Week: Boxes

boxes

While it would have been nice to escape from packing after my trip to Edinburgh, we do of course now have our current house to pack up, so that we can actually move into our new home!

Everywhere I look at the moment there are boxes.

Empty, half full, sealed and ready to go.

Clutter removed. No time to linger over memory boxes and keep sakes, all must be packed. Toys rediscovered. A lost spoon found!

Rooms tidied and cleaned. Trip after trip to deposit boxes in the new house.

Tracking boxes, a container on its way; transported through the UK to port, now on a boat crossing the Atlantic.

Boxes on my mind at all times!

This house is gradually looking ready to show to prospective buyers and we are aiming towards an Open House in a weeks time.

We will be living in the new house – or at least camping until we can move some furniture, after the Open House! – from the middle of next week.

So, while I know that in a few weeks time I will never want to see another box, right now these boxes, those I can see and those that I am tracking, are exciting because they signify change and opportunity. They mean that we will soon be settled, with all our belongings in one place, in our new home.

Right now, I love these boxes :)

What word of the week would you choose to sum up your week?

Thank you Tas, we’re doing the cosmetic clear out at the moment, ‘show homing’ the place :) But, it’s going remarkably smoothly so far, famous last words! Touch wood, properties in our town are selling quickly at the moment…!

  1. Exciting times – good luck with it all. I found the preparing to move and initial unpacking stage of boxes exciting too. Hope you get all settled quickly into your new house x

  2. Oh Sara, wow you’re all packed and ready… there’s something quite satisfying about de-cluttering. Not long to go! Good luck with the move and hope you settle in quickly. #wotw

  3. Ooh it’s a bit like series two of Topsy and Tim, following your moving story (way more boxes in yours though :-) ) Hope everything finds it’s place very soon! X

Thanks Jocelyn, it’s going really well, in fact I’m about to spend my first night in the new house :)
