The Prompt: Calm

The Prompt 66: Calm

I am the breeze whispering in the trees
I am the sound of waves lapping to the shore
I am the lazy buzzing of pollen laden bees
I am the whitest of noises in a darkened room

I am the tranquility of the palest of blues
I am the harmony of notes played in tune
I am the soothing brush of fingers on skin
I am the smooth taste of chocolate

I am the child sleeping peacefully
I am the tea drunk in silence
I am the memory of laughter
I am the moment between moments

I am in the kindness of the heart
I am in the beauty of the soul
I am in the composure of the mind
I am in the serenity of the spirit

  1. I love this! So peaceful! Especially the tea drunk in silence…that’s my favourite thing to do after little on is in bed xx

  2. That’s lovely Sara. Such a beautiful ode to your prompt word. I feel calm and relaxed just from reading it. I particularly like the line ‘I am the memory between moments’.

  3. Love love this poem. I would have to agree with Renee, the third verse if my favorite, especially the line, I am the moments between the moments. Thank you for sharing this, Sara, and for having us on #ThePrompt this week. Can’t wait to read through the rest of the pieces!

  4. This is such a beautiful poem; it’s so serene and peaceful and the epitomy of your Prompt word
The line ‘child sleeping peacefully, I am the tea drunk in silence’ has such resonance. That end of the day peace and calm is perfectly captured in those two lines.
    Lovely post
