It’s the unexpected coffee, with chatter
and cake
that revives,
and reminds me to take time.
It’s the impromptu outing, with a gallery
and ideas
that recreates,
and reminds me to make time.
It’s the leisurely lunch, with laughter
and jokes
that rebuilds,
and reminds me to savour.
It’s the indulgent escape, with a book
and tea
that restores,
and reminds me to relax.
It’s the priceless silliness, with the children
and games
that rejuvenates,
and reminds me to enjoy.
It’s the invigorating walk, with blue skies
and trees
that refreshes,
and reminds me to breathe.
It’s the spontaneous evening, with friends
and wine
that renews,
and reminds me to have fun.

Sounds like you’ve got this ‘fun’ thing sussed out Sara! Lovely series of images and I’m off to make a cup of tea to savour with my book…
Not sure about that, better at writing about it than actually doing :)
I feel more relaxed just reading this. So true! I must confess, when I saw the word for this week, I started out by thinking ‘when was the last time I had fun’ as I thought that could be a good starting point – but struggled to come up with anything! Your poem is a good reminder to keep injecting these lovely things into life to keep giving it that bit of fizz :)
It can be hard to make the time can’t it, but I do find that it’s the simplest things that I generally find the most fun!
I love this…I enjoy all these things. I suggested to three of my friends, who are all busy Mums, that we have a night out at a comedy show. So I’ve booked 4 tickets for Richard Herring & we’re all off for a night of laughs in April. I think you’re right, laughing & chatting does restore you. Thank you again for hosting #theprompt
We do have to make the time don’t we? Hope you have a blast! Laughter is good for the soul x
What a great collection of verses which all sum up the meaning of fun :) So very, very true – and important to take stock of these things regularly. Thank you for hosting #ThePrompt xx
It is, isn’t it? So easy for weeks to go by without taking a moment. Although sometimes I think the trick is in recognising the fun when you’re having it!
Bright, chilly walks and unexpected get togethers really are some of the most fun moments! Beautiful post!
They really are, aren’t they!
This made me smile, Sara. The simple things in life, the beauty, the fun. Lovely xx #theprompt
Yes, it really is the simple things, isn’t it x
I love this view of fun – it’s so difficult to pin ‘fun’ down to any one thing but you’ve managed to wrap it all into a poem nutshell. Love it xx
#ThePrompt
It is difficult, isn’t it. I think fun is found in lots of little moments x
Yes yes and yes!! We’re all a bit grumpy from a teething baby and I think I need to do at least one of these today x
Sometimes we just need to take five and have some fun, and often fun is really simple x
Wonderful, we really do need to take time to relax, enjoy, savour and have fun! Love this reminder x
Yes, we do. Easier said than done sometimes, but also easier than we think x
