Sunday Showcase 3

Sunday Showcase - Featured Image

Welcome to week three of my new Sunday Showcase feature, where I highlight one of my favourite blogs, recommend a few of the posts I enjoyed reading this week and capture a moment that made me smile.

A blog I love…

Maddy blogs over at Writing Bubble and her tagline sums up her blog perfectly ‘pondering, parenting, poetry and prose’. Her posts are insightful and entertaining, thoughtful and inspiring.

Maddy writes the funniest limericks, is working on several children’s books and has recently begun to illustrate her work. She also runs one of my favourite linkys, What I’m Writing, and has created a wonderful community of supportive writers. One day I hope to meet them all in real life :)

I loved this post about inspiration that Maddy published recently, and if you fancy a chuckle this limerick about an angry bird made me smile.

A post I loved…

Having moved overseas I could really relate to this post about finding mum friends from Min over at Single Mum Speaks.

I loved how Tas from Not My Year Off slanted this story about the day of her son’s first school trip.

This post from Carie over at Space for the Butterflies, about writing (or not), really resonated.

A moment I loved…

The week before last was a tough one, full of sickness and tiredness. I reached the end of my reserves of energy and sympathy on the Sunday, but instead of allowing myself to brood and wallow, I took the younger two over to a friends for a play date instead.

A few months ago I would have stayed grumpy and everyone would have had a miserable afternoon, but I’ve been working hard at accepting that I can’t control everything. Sometimes I have to roll with the punches.

Making the most of a gloriously sunny afternoon, walking over to our friends house with the 6yo and the wee girl chattering away, and drinking many cups of tea with my friend while the kids had a blast building a fort in the garden was a far more positive way to let go of my frustration at a week that hadn’t gone to plan.

And look at these two. Who wouldn’t be cheered up by turning around to see brother and sister hand in hand.

Fresh Air and Sunshine

So, there we have it. Week 3 of Sunday Showcase… I will be back next Sunday, sharing more great blogs with you!

  1. That’s such a lovely photo, and an afternoon chatting over cups of tea while kids play happily sounds like the perfect way to end a week! Thanks so much for featuring my blog, you really have made my day. I’m off to check out those other posts you’ve mentioned now. xx

    1. You’re welcome Tas x I’m enjoying writing these posts, I might actually manage to sustain the series :)

  2. I am fighting a similar battle accepting I cant control everything, and also with trying not to let my mood affect the rest of my day, i can relate to both! My current tactic is go take 30 mins away and get a shower or something to reset but its not always successful. I love that you are sharing your favourite posts, there are so many blogs at the moment that its nice discover new ones xx

    1. I’m enjoying spending some time each week just reading posts and choosing a few.
Letting go is hard isn’t it? I’m getting better, but still a work in progress!

  3. Thanks for bringing this good stuff to my attention. Your weekend plan B sounds good. I need to get better at plans B, C, and D
