Sunday Showcase 11

Sunday Showcase - Featured Image

Welcome to Sunday Showcase, where I highlight one of my favourite blogs, recommend a few of the posts I enjoyed reading this week and capture a moment that made me smile.

It’s been a few weeks since my last Showcase; we’re now on vacation so we’ve been busy and I’ve been focusing on enjoying the summer with the kids!

A blog I loved…

I had planned to publish this post last weekend, scheduling it go live while we were away camping, but I ran out of time (big surprise!). My featured blog was to be Three Children and It, written by the wonderful Suzanne. It has been one of my favourite blogs for a long time, in fact it was one of the first blogs that I read regularly. Suzanne wrote wise, honest and relatable content about life with three kids (and a dog!) in a way that I aspire to.

I was sitting outside our tent last weekend when I discovered that Suzanne had made the tough decision to stop blogging. I was so sad; I have loved reading about her family over the years and I will miss her blog hugely.

By way of farewell to a wonderful blog I’ve decided to keep Suzanne as my featured blogger this week. And, while I can’t now share the posts I’d picked for you (such a shame!), I do want to wish Suzanne all the very best with whatever she decides to do next. I’m sure it will be amazing.

A post I loved…

As it’s been awhile since my last Sunday Showcase I’ve chosen a few posts that have stayed with me since reading them over the last few weeks.

Donna from What the Redhead Said is one of the blogging greats, and lovely to boot. Her post about The Blogging Hierarchy is brilliant and spot on.

This post from Jenny over at Let’s Talk Mommy brought tears to my eyes. She writes about her son, who has life threatening allergies, and the experience they’ve had with him being excluded from playdates since he started school. Jenny is working hard to educate other parents, both for her own son and for others.

The always wise Renee from Mummy Tries has looked back on all that she’s learnt since her daughters autism diagnosis. Another insightful post.

And, reading this post from Caroline over at Becoming a Stay at Home Mum about what she wants from her blog really struck a chord with me.

A moment I loved…

The last few weeks have been full of wonderful moments, we’ve been having a lot of fun, so it’s been hard to choose just one moment. We’ve celebrated my eldest’s 10th birthday, had a couple of great weekends away, enjoyed our first trips of the summer to the pool and beach, played in the garden, been to the movies…!

But, flicking back through my photos from the last month, this one jumped out at me. It was taken last weekend while we were camping. Being in a forest calms me, listening to the chatter of squirrels and the call of birds while surrounded by trees *sigh*. It’s one of my happy places.

More importantly, the kids had the best time; it means so much to my husband and I that they love camping. They’ve been asking to go for weeks, they didn’t stop telling us how much they loved it, and they can’t wait to go again.

And that makes me happy.

In the trees

So, there we have it. Week 11 of Sunday Showcase… I will be back next Sunday (or some Sunday soon!), sharing more great blogs with you!
