Sometimes you have a perfect moment. Generally unplanned and unexpected. Often starting from the simplest of suggestions and becoming a lesson in the power of spontaneity.
We try and walk to and from school, when weather and activities allow. It doesn’t happen as often as I’d like, but it’s always worth it when we manage it.
Despite initial protests, despite the comments of I’m tired and my feet hurt.
Because sometimes this happens; a joyful, playful, perfect walk.
The 7yo was in a great mood. And yes, he’s wearing pajamas, a class reward for working hard the day before.
He kept running ahead, then back to join us, then running ahead again.
I told him he could run as much as he wanted, but he had to stay in sight and stop at every crossing to wait for us. He decided that he would adopt a different pose every time he stopped.
They got sillier and sillier the closer we got to home.
I honestly can’t remember the last time me and the three have laughed so much. It was the best walk home from school ever. Pure comedy gold.
This is my 7yo. Funny, enthusiastic, entertaining. Always ready with a smile, and ever hopeful of raising one.

What a fab walk home from school, it’s always lovely when one of your kids is in such a good mood that it brightens everyone’s day’s isn’t it? I love the poses, they definitely got more and more inventive the closet to home you got, although that wall doesn’t look like the comfiest of places to stop for a lie down! The big grin he has on in each of these photos proves how much fun he was having.

Lovely photos, and sometimes the simple walks are the best aren’t they? We did it with J and her swimming lessons, initially she moaned and moaned, but actually, she loved it and since then she has asked every week to go! #CountryKids

What an adorable little boy and a fabulous walk! My son likes to run ahead on our family walks too. Pajama day is awesome! I wish us adults could walk around in our pj’s and not be thought unhinged, ha!
