My Family: January 2017

And so, the first month of a new year is over. It’s been a full month, for a number of reasons, but it’s been a good start to the year. A positive start.

Towards the end of last year I made a few decisions about the blog and what I was going to focus on going forward. One of those decisions was to do fewer individual photography projects to give me more time for writing.

Not that the more-time-for-writing part has happened yet, but I’m ever hopeful. And not that it’s made me any more organised about taking the photos that I DO want.

But, anyway! I am combining my Me and Mine and Siblings projects this year.

I love looking back over the photos from the year before. Last year was the first year that I took part in the Me and Mine project, and the record of our year is wonderful. I want to have the same this year.

I’ve taken part in the Siblings project for two years now, and it’s amazing to look back at the end of the year and see how much the kids have changed. You simply don’t notice it as the year passes. I want to continue to have that wonderful record of the three and how they’re growing and changing.

As a family we have had plenty of fun this past month.

My mother was with us for the first part of the month which is always wonderful, for me and the kids. They adore Granny, and are always very sad to see her go. They are already planning her next trip for her!

After my husband took a quick trip back to see his family in Ireland, we had a couple of days off with the kids. Lots of quiet, focused family time.

We had snow! The kids LOVED that. And, we made the most of it while it lasted.

The three had a wonderful time together over Christmas, and we’ve had a good month. Apart from some grumpy tiredness going back to school, it’s been a really good month. With the weather being rather mixed, we’ve spent a lot of time snuggled up at home, and they seem to have really settled into a good place.

The 7yo and his little sister have taken to getting up before everyone else, and having breakfast together. The 10yo is in charge of organising after school snacks, and they sit down together each afternoon after the boys have finished their homework. They’ve become much better at agreeing on TV programmes to watch and games to play. There has been a lot less screeching!

All in all, it has been a good start to the year.

So, here’s to me and My Family in 2017. It’s going to be a good one.
