It is begun
with a look,
exquisite
and relentless,
endless
and captivating.
It is joined
by a touch,
thrilling
and enduring,
breathless
and undying.
It is filled
with a thirst,
immense
and unceasing,
tireless
and boundless.
It is broken
by a lie,
fateful
and devastating,
painful
and everlasting.
It is ended
with a cry,
crushing
and permanent,
infinite
and irrevocable.
Nothing,
is forever.

Powerful, Sara – a passionate affair that is full of fire and burns out. xxx #ThePrompt
Thank you Leigh, not quite where I thought it was going when I started!
Wow! Beautiful words for such a tragic message, Sara. I the dichotomy of it! Thanks so much for sharing and for hosting us on #ThePrompt! Always such a pleasure to read your works and those of others in your blog! Hope you’re having a great one :)
Thank you Maria, it was not at all what I thought I was going to write!
This is really sad Sara! But true I guess – even if a relationship doesn’t end in betrayal it can never stay the same over time. X
It’s funny, when I started it, my intention was for it to be happy, but it didn’t go that way at all! And, I just have to say, it’s not based on personal experience at all :)
It is overwhelming how ‘Forever’ relates to death, loss and sadness for most! I had not expected it to be so, when I wrote my post! I hope everyone linking will find more positive things to write about with ‘Believe’ #The Prompt
I have to admit, I didn’t expect it either. My initial thoughts were happy, but my poetry tends to go the way it wants to… It was interesting to read the other posts, and even yours with it’s uplifting message was tinged with sadness. Maybe that’s inevitable as, really, very little does last forever x
It is incredibly sad and I can really feel the pain in this poem, even though it is only imagined. I love the structure though, and the words you have chosen fit each verse perfectly.
Thank you Alice, it’s funny where words take you sometimes!
Great pace and power to this piece, that tells a story of passion and pain.
Thank you Sarah x
Ohh that is so sad, I was on a high at first waiting with anticipation of where it was going an then I plummeted! Very clever writing though, belated happy new year to you. Mich x
A belated happy new year to you to Mich, and thank you. It was one of those poems where the words kind of took on a life of their own!
I wasn’t expecting that ending and reading the comments above it sounds like neither were you! I love that, when you start writing something, expecting it to turn out a certain way and you go in a totally different direction. A true pleasure of writing and a true pleasure to read! #Prose4T
Thank you! It is a pleasure to write pieces like this, when they just flow, even if you’re not quite expecting where they flow to!
I love the fact that you started this with a completely different intention and ended up somewhere else. I read it as a marriage to start with and then it turned. I love how words can do that. Thank you for linking to Prose for Thought xx
Thank you Vicky, it is wonderful how words can do that, isn’t it x
