I’m okay, thank you, it’s just been a tough couple of weeks with another sad goodbye x
Do you write your poems after thinking of the prompt word, or does the poem come to you and the prompt word from it? Just curious as they are always so poignant and fitting.
I choose the prompt first and then write the poems. Sometimes I have quite a clear idea, but most of the time I sit down to a completely blank piece of paper and start playing with words. I often end up somewhere entirely different than I expected!
I love poems like this as you can really interpret them to your own feelings and meaning. To me this is from the perspective of someone who doesn’t want the parting but is convincing themselves to be strong. Beautiful. #theprompt

THere is a very melancholy feel about these verses. The inevitability of the parting is conveyed beautifully. The last couple of lines are particularly poignant. x

Oh friend, there’s a sense of sadness here that I feel, but also a tinge of hope. I would have to agree with Victoria on this one: I love poems that could be interpreted every which way…and this one seems to fit the mold perfectly. Thank you for sharing your lovely words with us, Sara!
