Sunday Showcase 5

Sunday Showcase - Featured Image

Welcome to Sunday Showcase, where I highlight one of my favourite blogs, recommend a few of the posts I enjoyed reading this week and capture a moment that made me smile.

A blog I love…

Maria writes the wonderful blog Collecting Moments. She is a beautiful writer, wise and insightful, and her blog is full of thoughtful posts on parenting, motherhood and identity.

Maria shares her journey, capturing the little moments that define childhood, parenting and everything in between. This recent post about the lessons to be learnt in the simple moments is a perfect example of her reflective, astute style. She also shares her thoughts on writing and blogging, and her observations are always thought provoking and, as in this post about breaking blogging ‘rules’, sensible and smart.

If you haven’t read Maria’s blog before, pop over and have a look!

A post I loved…

Suzanne, who blogs over at 3 Children and It, always gets me thinking. Her youngest is about the same age as my eldest and I know that the issues that she deals with are ones that I will soon. This post about blogging about older children is a subject that is often at the front of my mind, as I naturally find myself writing less and less about my eldest.

I featured Louise from Little Hearts Big Love in my first Sunday Showcase. This post about being a heart mummy, not superhuman is written with such honesty and strength. A must-read.

Lastly, this post from Jen over at Jenerally Informed, gives a wonderful perspective on technology and older children, an unexpected benefit of her teenage daughter getting a cell phone. I’m a believer that technology has an important role to play in our children’s lives, albeit one that needs supported and monitored, and this post was a great read.

A moment I loved…

The wee girl has been taking a ballet/tap class since last September. I’ve written about how much I love watching her at dance class. It’s become one of my favourite moments each week.

One of my least favourite moments is attempting to tame her unruly hair, and ballet buns are beyond me so far. But, as the weeks have gone on she has become more interested in her hair. Plaits and bunches and pretty hair clips. Each week, she asks for something particular.

This week, she wanted two bunches. So, two bunches it was! Her hair is still really fine, not really enough to warrant two bunches, but she loved it. And, although I’m terribly biased, she did look very cute.

The bunches prompted a request for photos (from her, not me!), so a mini photo shoot ensued. This one is not camera shy.

Not Camera Shy

So, there we have it. Week 5 of Sunday Showcase… I will be back next Sunday, sharing more great blogs with you!
