The Prompt: Remember

The Prompt 123: Remember

In a broken promise or a word unsaid,
in a lost smile or a last regret,
I see a future filled with memories
of the past.
In the echo of a dream or the image of a lie,
in the reflection of a life or the shadow of a loss,
I wonder if a path, once chosen,
can be changed.
As we forget the knowledge gained
and fail to learn from what is lost,
I watch as time erases the mistakes
we made.
But, I remember.

  1. I love this line “I see a future filled with memories of the past”
It’s so true & poignant as our world is full of memories, and without those memories you can question how our future is shaped.
    Beautiful poem, Sarah

  2. I really like that Sara – just catching up with reading everything after a weekend away. I like the way you write about the possibility of taking a different path in the middle of the poem, as if the poem itself could also go in a different direction

  3. A very powerful poem that drew me right in. Quite often when I read poetry I like to read them more than once because I hear and see different things in each reading. #prose4T
