A life lived
colouring by numbers,
safely staying within
the lines,
constrained by expectation.
Colour disguising
and obscuring,
limiting and
confusing.
But,
in our dreams the colours pop,
fizzing with potential,
dazzling spots behind closed eyes
that hint at hues as yet
unseen.
The kaleidoscope,
once filled with missed opportunity,
now crackles with a rainbow
of ideas,
that twist and turn
in patterns painted
brightly.
A life lived
outside the lines,
infused with possibility
and joy,
freed from expectation.
Colour singing
and inspiring,
vibrant and
true.

Beautiful poem, Sarah!
I try my best to live outside the lines. As a matter of fact, I can’t really help it. I’m a rare bird! Lol! Was this poem inspired by a recent “freeing”?
Thank you Nicole. It’s more aspirational at the moment, than reality. But, I’m working on it :)
Love what colour has given you here, so much potential and it’s used in the rhythm. It’s like when you used to have colour wheels an you could make anything. It’s such a reminder of how magical colour is. #Prose4T
And how true – we can all live more up to our potential if we take risks… the more colourful and vibrant the better! #Prose4t
